IPL 2024, CSK vs GT Highlights

Rachin Ravindra, the CSK opener, hit 46 off 20 balls, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, his partner and captain, scored 46 off 36 balls. For their respective teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dube have been crucial players. Chennai reached 207 thanks to 51 runs in 23 balls from Shivam Dube. With two sixes, Sameer Rizvi’s explosive 14 off 6 balls fueled the flames. Dube’s 5 sixes in a 23-ball 51 may have also earned him a spot in the T20 World Cup selection mix.

On Tuesday, the Gujarat Titans suffered a crushing loss in Chennai, losing by 63 runs despite hitting 11 sixes. Early on, GT lost their first wicket. In 2.5 overs, captain Shubman Gill was out for 8 off 5 balls. Gujarat’s top scorer was Sai Sudharsan, an impact player. The only fight from GT came from the Tamil Nadu batter, who hit 37 off 31 balls. However, when MS Dhoni turned back time, diving a full length (2.27m, according to replays) to his right and pouching an edge off Vijay Shankar’s bat, the 33,000-strong Chepauk crowd found their voice. With 127 needed from the final 60 balls, David Miller and Sai Sudharsan were forced to take risks and were out.

The Titans secured 55 runs in four consecutive overs, with Gaikwad scoring just 13 of those runs. Rashid Khan took charge of the innings, and in his first over, it was clear what Ravindra was going for. CSK’s success was aided by Dube’s prompt delivery and dismissal of Daryl Mitchell.

Assuming CSK keeps batting in this manner, Dhoni won’t have to come out to bat and can simply enjoy the destruction the top-order impacts.

Player of the Match went to Shivam Dube.

Damage on top

Over the past four seasons, Ruturaj Gaikwad, a vital member of the Chennai Super Kings, has developed a solid partnership with Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and Faf du Plessis. With a 9.35 run rate advantage in the first six overs of the previous season, the Powerplay set the tone for the Super Kings. With Ravindra joining Gaikwad as his new partner this season, the powerplay has been even more impressive. Chennai scored 69 runs in their first-ever match against the Gujarat Titans, with Ravindra supplying the fireworks. In the next five overs, Gujarat managed three sixes and nine boundaries inside the powerplay. Gujarat could not recover unless Rashid Khan led the way.

Midway action

Rashid and Sai Kishore played for  Gujarat the against Super Kings, and both had a chance to return. While Ajinkya Rahane found it difficult to get going, Gaikwad made sure the run rate never dropped. Gujarat was starting to regain control, though, as Rahane was dismissed by Sai Kishore and Shivam Dube entered at No. 4, hitting two enormous sixes in the first two deliveries to put Gujarat back in the wheel. Gaikwad was removed by Spencer Johnson in the 13th over, but it had little impact on Chennai’s score. Johnson and Rashid each brought 13 and 14 runs, respectively.

Dube shines on Chepauk

Last season, CSK unleashed Dube, a batsman who had trouble with short balls, at No. 4 to take down spinners. Dube’s difficulties were apparent with the new two-bouncers-an-over rule, but he has discovered an easy way to deal with short stuff. He tried to play deliveries in front of him, swaying away from them if they were not in line with his body and remaining rooted to the crease with little footwork.

Dube played within his limits on Tuesday, rolling his wrists to keep the ball down and pulling them for two boundaries and a six as Johnson and Mohit Sharma tested him with bouncers. As he continues to demonstrate his abilities in the short ball game, Dube’s potential in the IPL has been demonstrated by this courageous approach.

Dhoni’s Incredible Grab

Dhoni made an incredible catch while extending to his right during the IPL game while fielding. The commentators got excited and shouted, “Tiger Zinda hai! (The tiger is alive!)” as the fans burst into excitement. Chepauk is going to remember that one catch that blew up the stadium. While the Chennai supporters were excited to see their captain, MS Dhoni, bat, the team moved younger players up the batting order, including Rizvi. Thus, Mahi bat was never seen by Chennai supporters Yesterday.
